CEFR Levels – General Overview
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) provides an international standard for describing language ability. It evaluates learners across four core competencies: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Applicable for all courses (French, English, German, Spanish, etc.)
A1 – Beginner
Learners can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. They can introduce themselves, ask simple questions, and interact in a limited way when communication is slow and clear.
Key Skills
Understand familiar words and basic phrases.
Recognize simple words and short sentences.
Introduce themselves and ask or answer basic questions.
Write short messages and complete forms with personal details.
Sub-Levels
A1 — Beginner
Absolute Beginner

Elementary Beginner
- ●Understand phrases related to immediate needs.
- ●Ask and answer simple daily-life questions.
- ●Read short texts and write simple sentences.
Foundation Level

- ●Participate in short conversations.
- ●Write brief texts on familiar topics.
